Twice a year, in the spring and fall, these fairs provide "one stop opportunity" for information and services relating to blood and HIV/AIDS tests, glaucoma and cholesterol tests, diabetes counseling, nutrition, flu shots, MHMR, veterans, legal issues, substance abuse, housing, etc.
The fairs are held at the dining and shelter complex locations. An average of 25 agencies participate and over 300 clients attend. These fairs are proven critical for downtown homeless and those with limited transportation.
Walking distance from the Bethany House, there are over 250 low-income or disabled families residing in public housing developments that have the opportunity to take advantage of the services on those days.
The fairs have developed into effective community outreach and assessment events.
