School-aged children that are close to Bethany House programs have access to the learning center.
Every Saturday a volunteer teacher/director and assistants provide provide critical schoolwork tutoring, arts and crafts classes, tours and demonstrations at art or music festivals, exhibits and campouts. Currently, there are monthly projects held at the Laredo Center for the Arts, located a block from the Learning Center. Field trips to special events, such as art exhibitions, are not unusual during the summer months.
Many of the tutors are legal professionals that give their weekend time. The program has been in place since 1998. As many as 35 children attend the Saturday morning center.
