The Lamar Bruni Vergara Community Shelter provides 28 beds for men. When necessary, the Resource Center can be converted into an efficiency unit at night, for additional beds. Term of stay at the shelter is generally 30 days. Clients’ situations are evaluated at a minimum every 15 days. Women seeking emergency shelter are housed in the transitional housing units pending availability.
The shelter is operated under strict guidelines. Clients undergo an intake process, where personal information is collected. Shelter clients are able to shower and store personal belongings overnight.
On average, there are 18 individuals in the shelter nightly. Daily check-in begins at 6:00 PM and dismissal is at 6:00 AM.
