At the Bethany House Shelter Complex, the Resource Center serves as classroom for the after school daily tutorial program for resident children. For children whose schooling has been interrupted by homelessness, the tutoring provides them some very much needed support and attention.
The Laredo ISD provides a certified teacher that comes to shelter to assist those young residents with homework. The Laredo Rotary Club and community members also provide back-to-school supplies for resident children. This program has been in place since 2006.
As well, the transitional housing complex also provides a children's study room, with a small library, computer, and private-quiet space to do homework.
