Where is the Bethany House located? The Bethany House facilities are located in downtown Laredo, with the Dining facilities at 819 Hidalgo St., the Shelter Complex at 815 Hidalgo St. and the Vintage Store at 920 Hidalgo. How many facilities does the Bethany House operate? As of the summer of 2007, there are 3 facilities: the main office and dining, the shelter complex, and the Vintage Store. What type of clients does the Bethany House serve through its programs? It serves the homeless, elderly, disabled, veterans, and indigent. Many of its programs serve children. How many meals are prepared daily at the 819 Hidalgo facility? An average of 1200 meals are prepared daily and served 6 days a week. How many meals are delivered to the homebound individuals? More than 600 are delivered 5 days a week. Is the Bethany House a 501(C)3 organization? Yes, it has been since 1984. What are the donated items used for? The donated items are used to meet the needs of the homeless, indigent and resident families, and for resale at the Thrift and Vintage stores. Can donors restrict the use of its donations? Yes, the Bethany House respects the donor’s wishes as to the use of the donation. How does the organization stay in touch with those it serves? The organization has former homeless member on its advisory board, and it has a 3-member Homeless Advisory Council. What are the sources of funds for the Bethany House programs? United Way, City of Laredo, County of Webb, and private donations.
